Our Farm
We have so many different things going on around the farm, and things changing all the time. Here are a few of the “constants” we plan to always have on the farm:
Farm fresh eggs! Our eggs are gathered daily from free-range happy hens. Our laying hens consist of Buff Orpingtons, Blue Plymouth Rocks, Lavender Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Easter Eggers, Polish, a few barn-yard-mix, and Freedom Rangers.
Meat Chickens! We order day old broiler chicks from the hatchery, grow them out on pasture moving them twice daily to fresh grass using chicken tractors, then process them ourselves. We do not add any hormones medications to our feed or our chickens.
Chocolate Heritage Turkeys! We have one Tom and two hens. Tom and one hen are Bronze Chocolate and the other hen is Chocolate. We love to watch as they hatch and grow young poults. Baby turkeys are so cute!
Chicks! We love to incubate our eggs as time allows and grow new babies to add to our flock… ever heard of Chicken Math?
Livestock Guardian Dogs! Our male, Oliver, is 100% Great Pyrenees and our female, Landry, is 1/8 Anatolian Shephard and 7/8 Great Pyrenees. Landry had her first litter of puppies Dec. 1, 2022 and we plan to breed her again in a year or so. Pregnancy, labor, and nursing can take a toll on a sweet momma, so we want to make sure she has plenty of time between litters.
Nigerian Dwarf Goats! There’s no point in trying to put a number here to say how many goats we have….. Goat Math is like Chicken Math…. they multiply fast! LOL We have Nigerian Dwarfs and they stay fairly small, are usually very docile, and make the best pets. We breed and plan to make goats milk soaps, lotions, and other items in the future.
Hereford Pigs! Update: as of Fall 2023, we no longer have our breeding pigs, but hope to get back into raising pigs in the future. More to come on that later!
Cattle! Our first calves were black baldy bottle babies. We are always looking to add Herefords or more black baldies to our herd.
